At the end of Term 2, a group of Year 11 students and six former Covie students, were given the opportunity to travel to Yarrabah in Far North Queensland.
Yarrabah is 50km from Cairns and the home of over 2,500 indigenous people.
The students had to raise their own funds to go on this trip and attend training sessions to ensure they were culturally aware and were able to effectively
deliver the ‘Kids Games’ program. This program is a way of sharing the Gospel through song, drama, games and small group discussions.
In the lead-up to the trip, each Year 11 student was linked to a specific class in Covie’s Junior School. The Junior School students prayed and
encouraged their Secondary School buddies and presented each of them with a beautiful hand-made illustrated prayer booklet.
The twice-yearly trips to Yarrabah follow a similar format, but it is a great privilege to see God at work in unique ways, specific to each
group as they learn to trust in God and lean on His direction.
We are grateful for God’s provision, His timing and many blessings on this trip.
