Five students from Years 10 and 11 formed a band for a performance on Saturday 18 February at Frenchs Forest Anglican Church. The main purpose being
to raise money for their forthcoming trip to Yarrabah, Queensland.
Mark Allan, Kat Brian, Alex Kilby, Ethan Lowry and Dan Willemse sang and played their hearts out, playing a range of songs from Adele to David Bowie to current Christian worship songs. The audience, consisting of many Covie parents and students were an enthusiastic and supportive crowd. The band, the ‘Blinking Lights’, graciously offered their time and talent to support the Covie musicians and they pumped out some amazing jazz sounds.
The musicians were accompanied by guest performers: Reuben Lowry on drums, Steph Brian on vocals, Sophie Judd on bass guitar and Gabi Lanham on saxophone.
The musicians would like to pass on their thanks to the support team who assisted with set-up, food and the barbecue cooking. A special mention to Jake Eakin on the sound desk, Laura Monin for decorations and Mitch King for his musical direction.
