Eighteen Year 10 students, accompanied by staff, set out on the Duke of Edinburgh Silver practice hike. For three days, we travelled more than 30 kilometres
from Hornsby station to Cowan station. Our path went through amazing bushland, creeks and over truly massive hills. We learnt about camping and
navigation. I thought the trip was a valuable experience.
Despite the low-lights of aching muscles and terrain, and setting up tents in the rain which I found very challenging, I learnt a bunch of new skills and
got to know my peers better. I especially enjoyed the impressive bonfires that were set up each night. I finished the journey tired but better prepared
for the qualifying hike later in the year.
Thank you to Mrs Shaw for coordinating a rewarding three-day journey. All the best to the Silver team as they attempt their qualifying hike in August!
