On Thursday 2 November, around 55 students gathered at Lionel Watts Park for the Warringah Zone Eagle Tag Gala Day.
Our 5 Covie teams all tried hard and played some great games against local schools, including: Kambora, Killarney Hts, Wakehurst, Manly Vale, Allambie
Hts, St Augustines.
The Year 5 and 6 girls started strongly against Wakehurst 3 with a comfortable 7-0 win.
Their second game was a lot tougher with a narrow 1-0 win against Kambora 3. The girls defeated Kambora 2, 5-0 then Wakehurst 3 again 5-0, which earnt them a spot in the semi-finals. This was a lot tougher and a close game went to Covie 5-4.
In the Final, Covie played Manly Vale and worked hard to win convincingly 11-2.
Well done to a great bunch of girls who thoroughly deserve their place in the Regional Grand Finals on 23 November at Lottoland Brookvale Oval.
In our first round we had a good win of 6-0 and in the second round we won 7-1. We won the third round 3-1 and lost the fourth round 5-4. The Junior Girls headed to the semi-final which we won 9-2 and then went on to the Grand Final which we won against Wakehurst 7-4. We couldn’t have done it without each other and we look forward to playing in the finals against the winners of other zones. A big thank you to Mrs Smithies who gave up her time to coach us.

Senior Boys 1
The years 5 and 6 boys started off strongly with a fairly convincing 6-3 win over Wakehurst 2, the boys then played Kambora 2 in a very tough game that was extremely close and ended in a frustrating 1-1 draw, the boys did bounce back with a hard worked 3-1 victory over Allambie 1. We then had a comfortable 8-0 win against Wakehurst 3. Next, the boys played St Augustines in their final pool game. With a Grand Final place up for grabs, the boys played hard but in the end came up short losing 3-0 to the eventual winners of the day. The boys finished second in the pool and just missed the finals but should be very proud for putting in such an awesome effort and playing with a good attitude all day. Well done boys.
The Junior Boys Eagle Tag team are a sensational bunch of lads. Last week we were placed in Pool A, competing against a number of schools from around the area. There were 5 teams in our Pool. Our team won 4 out of 5 games. Yes you heard that right! We played brilliantly, well most of the time. The game we lost was against a green and white team. They were terrific and deserved to win.
